My role as CEO is a balancing act between

• working across government in shaping national policies like public sector commissioning, community engagement and voice,
• working directly with members on their issues,
• and running bassac the organisation with all its programmes, projects and people!

Working closely with government departments like CLG, the Cabinet Office and Defra, I feed in members’ experiences of working at the grass roots.

Policy makers are keen to get this local-to-national-to-local dialogue and, with the personal relationships that characterize the bassac network, the quality of this evidence is particularly valued.

bassac has a history of close partnership working. Making this happen – across both voluntary, community, private and public sectors, is my other major area of work.
