Joanna Holmes - bassac chair

Joanne Holmes bassac Chair Joanna Holmes began her career as a nurse, progressing through gaining a degree and working for ten years as a manager for a London local authority before moving to Bristol.

During the last sixteen years she has worked in a range of development and management positions in the voluntary sector.

This work has included managing local resident volunteers to design and build a Family Playcentre, as well ensuring that users of services and local people are central to managing Barton Hill Settlement.

She has been chief executive officer of Barton Hill Settlement since 2002.

Barton Hill is a community resource centre for the diverse inner city area in the east of Bristol. It is a dynamic, multi-cultural community organisation, providing services, resources, space and support to the local people that it serves, and acts as a key force for community development in East Bristol.

Joanna became chair of bassac in April 2007.
