Getting to bassac

Get active – travel wisely

bassac encourages users of the building to plan their journey to reduce the impact on our environment. We promote active travel as a way to meet our travel needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own.

Where are we?

Our building – the Community Hub – is located just north of the City of London between Hoxton and Moorfields Eye Hospital and a short distance from the junction of City Road and Old Street. The building has been converted from a warehouse and sits in a narrow quiet street dominated by offices and other commercial buildings.

Travelling within the area

The Community Hub is located in an inner urban environment close to major routes and with excellent public transport links.

To reach us from the London Underground

On arrival at Old Street station (Northern Line – City branch), exit from the station through the ticket barriers into the underground pedestrian area and walk up the short flight of stairs directly in front. Turn to your left and take exit 1 signposted for City Road East and Old Street North. The exit is a flight of stairs.

At the top of the stairs, carry straight on into City Road. This takes you away from the roundabout at the junction between City Road and Old Street. The road bends gently to the left and follow it past several small shops and cafes. After about 50 metres, cross the end of Cranwood Street and in a further 20 metres, take the next turning to the left Brunswick Street. Cross the road and after 50 metres, turn into Corsham Street on the right. The Community Hub is on the far side of the road just around the corner in about 50 metres. The building is painted blue and has 33 in large numbers on its wall. Please press the reception button on the entry-phone to get in.

To reach us by car

Congestion charging is now operating in Central London, Monday - Friday, 7am - 6.30pm (excluding public holidays). City Road is located just inside the zone. Visitors coming in to the Community Hub should note that all side streets are within this zone, and if these are used you will be required to pay the charge. This can be paid at a machine located in the Moorfields Eye Hospital outpatient clinic.

Unfortunately, due to immense pressure on the local parking, we do not have any parking facilities available for our use. There are limited street parking meter bays located around the area. The nearest NCP car park is approximately 10 minutes walk / a bus ride away down City Road at Finsbury Square.
