Free home security training offered

14th December 2009

Due to the overwhelming success of the Safer Homes project’s free Home Security courses more dates have been added for the new year.

The Home Security training sessions will run between January and March 2010. The training is targeted at voluntary and community organisations working with vulnerable clients and is suitable for both staff and volunteers.

The one day courses will provide handypersons, caseworkers and volunteers with the skills and knowledge to make people and their homes safe from crime, and reduce older and vulnerable people's fear of crime. They will be held in London, Birmingham, Newcastle, Manchester and Bristol.

A free ‘train the trainer’ course for those that want to learn how to deliver Home Security training will also take place after Christmas.

EIght bassac members benefited from Safer Homes fund grants earlier this year. The training is being delivered by Foundations, the national body for Home Improvement Agencies, on behalf of the Home Office.
