Shared systems research

Published: 2008

This report looks at specific examples of shared systems being used around the country, their implementation and key learning from the organisations involved. Shared systems, for the purposes of this research, were defined as "pieces of hardware, or software, developed and used by more than one voluntary and community organisation, for the same purpose or purposes and mutual benefit". The report looks at they types of organisations collaborating in this way and how shared systems are developed. The benefits and challenges are discussed alongside costs and funding structures, training, and projected trends and opportunities for the future.
