Thursday 25 June 2009
Coin Street Neighbourhood Centre, London Coin Street Neighbourhood Centre

bassac members face tremendous challenges to make their organisations stable and secure for the future.

At the same time they are doing pioneering work with local people, providing a vital space for discussion, action and campaigning and a safe environment for children, young people and older members of the community.

Delegates at Grand designs raised many pertinent points and highlighted where bassac could provide particular help.

The headlines

The community sector is doing valuable work but it needs to raise its profile and get known by more influencers including funders

Managing a building requires know-how and expertise

Let's share what we know with each other and ask bassac to research good practice and reliable specialists

We must know about national links to local issues

bassac must continue to provide the link between members' local activities and national policies and challenge members to think outside their day-to-day 'box'
