Leadership in community anchors

Communitybuilders gives a boost to leadership

bassac will be supporting the development of a range of leadership development learning sets.

This action learning - or learning by doing - requires participants to use real examples in the learning process and apply their own problem-solving skills, with support from people who have relevant and specific experience.

Understanding community leadership

These learning sets are designed to help the Board, chief officers, directors and staff of community organisations to have a better understanding of community leadership and become more effective and confident leaders within their own communities.

They are likely to include the following themes:

  • Leadership in communities
  • Leading and running a multi-purpose organisation
  • Commissioning, tendering and managing services under contract
  • Developing enterprise solutions
  • Facilities management
  • Governance for change

Building diverse and empowered communities

All the learning sets will explore how community leadership approaches help to build diverse and empowered communities whose needs are met.

We hope to offer the sets from the late Autumn of 2009 onwards.
