Through their work, community organisations enable local people to make positive changes to their neighbourhood.

But sometimes it can be difficult to show how they do this.

bassac has developed its ChangeCheck process to help community organisations demonstrate their impact. When it comes to applying for funding and support for important local services, community organisations will be able to pinpoint the difference their work makes.

Made to Measure: Impact self-assessment workbook and review workshop

A new resource, this is an introduction to impact and is carried out by community organisation staff in the workplace. It stimulates thinking around impact and what it means for the organisation. It acts as a lead in and qualifier for ChangeCheck, bassac’s impact assessment tool.

When the community organisation has completed its self-assessment, staff attend a half-day review workshop.

ChangeCheck taster workshop

A two-hour workshop designed to introduce a community organisation to ChangeCheck and help staff assess whether or not ChangeCheck fits with organisational development needs.

ChangeCheck

A flexible research and analysis tool that allows you to find out about and reflect in depth on your organisation’s impact, following a three-stage process.

First introduced in 2007, the ChangeCheck process was revised in late 2009.

bassac members using ChangeCheck:

• A regeneration centre in Yorkshire used the process to take a wider, long-term look at their activities, focusing directly on the changes on people’s lives
• A London-based development trust identified key priority areas for development – more youth provision, increased training opportunities – to drive future funding strategy 
• A small, entirely voluntary, community centre in West Yorkshire used ChangeCheck to underpin plans for a new build community centre.
